Introduction
The Sheffield Sandpit held on Sept. 4th-5th, 2024 was DTNet+'s pilot sandpit event that launched our Special Interest Groups to our broader network. Over two days, researchers and SIG leads had the opportunity to connect and discuss pressing research issues in the field of Digital Twins. This sandpit aimed to encourage new research projects and ideas among early career researchers and established researchers in the field.
About the event
N.B. If you wish to attend, please read the below and complete the application form below by 5pm 19/08/2024.
This Sandpit event is designed to help delegates form collaborations and seek guidance from Special Interest Group (SIG) leads in preparation for the first round of the DTNet+ funding call for pilot projects and feasibility studies. The aim of the pilot & feasibility projects is to enable cross-disciplinary, speculative, adventurous early-stage research and idea testing. Bids to build demonstrative prototypes, or carry out thought leadership, are also welcomed. We are aiming at funding that can help facilitate proposals, innovation or other relevant opportunities. Below is a list of our Special Interest Groups.
1. Uncertainty and Trust
2. Scaling of DTs
3. Design & Implementation of DTs (incorporating real-time SIG)
4. Societal Impacts
5. Health
6. Languages, Logic & Ontologies for DT design, interoperability and analysis (SIG LLODIA)
7. Human Interaction and Representation
8. Resilience and Security
Early career researchers (ECR) are particularly encouraged to apply for these projects.
